Chasing Goals

In January 2021, I decided to “Stop the World, and Get Off.” Here is the last sentence in my post from January 2021, “…at the beginning of this years’ journey, I believe I will stop the chase, build from the Foundation and finally begin the Creation of Myself.” After a months’ thought, the foundation I decided to build was, a new career in a totally different direction. I set a mark of 1 year to get through 150 hours (7 classes) that would build the foundation of a new career in real estate appraising.

Now, before you agree with the voices in my head, “Oh, do you really think more education is the solution?” I decided, yes it is. My 30 year career as a business owner, professional singer, and voice teacher had become as stale as a piece of gum. As tired as a romantic relationship that began in a blind date and kept going cause it sounded like a good idea at the time. Ugh! Stay tuned for my next book: “Everything is like dating…Everything!” Anyway, my choice to start this new career was my way of “building from the Foundation” by realizing the land that I was built on was wore and really someone else’s choice for me. In effect, “borrowed land.” I needed to find my own intelligence, my own desire, and my own money.

I am glad to say, I am very happy at my 1 year and 1 month dating anniversary with Appraising! I completed all 150 hours, found an appraiser to train me in my 1000 hour apprenticeship, and have a map of $$ and a goal that reaches all the way to December 2025. The Foundation is new — the experience is new — and my heart and spirit are happy. I continue to sing and lead my Jazz Quartet in what will amount to 25 gigs in 2022. Now, that music foundation I tried to till for 30 years and make a living, has become my joy instead of my income maker.
